How the calculation works
Sand volume is length × width × depth. Convert centimetres to metres before multiplying. The optional allowance increases the planning quantity for handling and placement.
Worked example
A 6 m × 4 m area at 5 cm depth is 1.2 m³. With 10% allowance, the planning quantity is about 1.32 m³.
Material note: Moisture and compaction can change the delivered and settled volume. Confirm how your supplier sells and measures the material.
Common mistakes
- Entering 5 instead of 0.05 m for a 5 cm depth.
- Confusing sand volume with weight.
- Ignoring the required finished level.
FAQ
Can I convert cubic metres to tonnes?
Only if you have a suitable density for the exact sand product. Density varies by material and moisture.
