Terms of Use

Last updated: October 2, 2026

These Terms of Use govern your use of HomeMathTools.com and its calculators, guides and related content. By using the site, you agree to use it lawfully and for ordinary informational and planning purposes.

1. What HomeMathTools provides

HomeMathTools provides free calculators, explanations and planning information for common home-improvement, gardening and DIY projects. The results are estimates based on the inputs and assumptions shown on each page.

2. Estimates are not professional advice

Calculator results are not engineering, architectural, structural, construction, surveying, legal, financial, medical or other professional advice. For work that requires professional design, certification, permits or specialist judgement, consult an appropriately qualified professional.

3. Accuracy and assumptions

We aim to make formulas and explanations useful and to correct material errors when identified. However, real projects contain variables that a simple calculator cannot capture, including irregular dimensions, surface conditions, product tolerances, waste, settling, compaction, installation methods and supplier packaging. Always compare a result with the actual product instructions and supplier information.

4. Material quantities and purchasing

Rounding rules are used to make estimates practical, but retailers may sell materials in different pack sizes, can sizes, pallets or minimum delivery quantities. The final quantity you purchase should reflect the actual product you selected.

5. Construction and structural projects

Some calculators, including fence and deck tools, are intended only for preliminary material planning. They do not determine structural adequacy, footing requirements, spans, loads, wind resistance, fixing schedules or compliance with building requirements.

6. Your responsibility

You are responsible for checking measurements, inputs, product specifications and local requirements before relying on a calculator result. You should not use an estimate as the sole basis for a safety-critical decision.

7. Acceptable use

You may use the site for lawful personal, educational and business planning purposes. You must not attempt to disrupt the service, bypass reasonable security controls, introduce malicious code, scrape the service in a way that harms availability, or use the site to facilitate unlawful activity.

8. Intellectual property

Unless otherwise stated, HomeMathTools site text, layout, branding, calculator code and original guides are owned by or licensed to HomeMathTools. You may view and use the site for ordinary purposes, but you may not reproduce substantial portions of the site as your own without permission.

9. Third-party products and links

References to product specifications, suppliers, manufacturers or external websites are provided for context. HomeMathTools does not guarantee the availability, price, quality or suitability of third-party products or services, and external sites are governed by their own terms.

10. Availability and changes

We may change, update, suspend or remove calculators, guides or site features at any time. We do not guarantee that the site will always be available, error-free or compatible with every device or browser.

11. Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by applicable law, HomeMathTools is not responsible for losses, costs, damage or project outcomes arising solely from reliance on an estimate, guide or other site content. Nothing in these terms is intended to exclude rights or guarantees that cannot lawfully be excluded.

12. Privacy

Your use of the site is also subject to our Privacy Policy, which explains how information may be handled.
