How the calculation works
Multiply length by width to get area. Add the selected allowance, then divide by the product's stated coverage per pack and round up.
Worked example
A 6 m × 4 m area is 24 m². With 5% allowance the planning area is 25.2 m². At 8 m² per pack, that is 4 packs.
Product note: Insulation selection is not just a coverage calculation. R-value, thickness, moisture conditions, fire requirements and installation method matter. Follow the product documentation and applicable building requirements.
Common mistakes
- Choosing a product only by price or area coverage.
- Ignoring thermal performance requirements.
- Forgetting gaps, penetrations and awkward areas.
